Truth & Consequences Work
My mother is a working woman and the breadwinner of the family. She has been responsible for providing and supporting my needs. Throughout my childhood and adolescence, my mother continues to frequently travel and work long hours in order to provide me with a great life.

This work is not a critique of my mother’s parenting, but rather a realization and appreciation for the life she has given me.

“Even when you do something that is honest and true, there will always be consequences.”

Truth and Consequences is a combination of collage and medium format photography. The collages are the consequence of my mother’s absence, while the medium format photos are her reality.

The collages show the dysfunction of the home by using photographs of objects that hold significant symbolic meaning in my life. The series of photographs document the unseen reality of her work life.
